Betsy Johnson (Wanless) is the designer of SwimZip. Growing up she always loved fashion and could spend hours shopping and getting dressed. She was diagnosed with skin cancer at the age of 26 and has taken her passion for designing clothes and her personal battle with skin cancer to create SwimZip.
Growing up in Kansas Betsy spent countless hours swimming at the pool, running around at soccer tournaments in the dead of summer, hiking in Colorado, and sunbathing until she burned. Not understanding the effects it would have on her, until 26, Betsy has learned that doctors are finding 90% of all cancerous sun exposure happens before a person turns 18 years old. Betsy wishes she would have listened to her Mom back then and lathered up with sunscreen; if she could go back in time, she would. Since being diagnosed with skin cancer she has made it a priority to educate children and parents about the dangers of UV rays. |
